Meet Firehatch Temperature (EI)
Hoefnagels Fire Safety is adding a special product to its portfolio: the Firehatch Temperature (EI). It is the very first fire-resistant hatch in our range and was specifically developed for use in continuous, uninterrupted conveyor belts running through fire compartments. This makes it a smart and safe solution for architects and construction companies working on complex logistics buildings. The hatch thus not only seals the opening in the wall, but also prevents the transfer of heat via the conveyor belts running through these openings. We asked Siebe Bax, R&D engineer at Hoefnagels Fire Safety, if he could tell us more about this solution.
The Firehatch Temperature (EI) originated from a customer request, an existing relationship of Hoefnagels Fire Safety. Siebe: "Although the concept of a fire-resistant trapdoor is not new, the customer deliberately chose Hoefnagels because of the pleasant cooperation and complete carefree service: from advice to maintenance. That trust gave rise to further development of the product together - with a unique focus on ease of use, safety and easy integration with transport systems."
‘What sets the Firehatch apart is its simplicity in design as well as application,’ Siebe continues. ‘The hatch is designed for maximum reliability with minimum complexity.’ This manifests itself in several aspects:
"The Firehatch Temperature (EI) is tested to EN 1366-7 and rated at both EI1 and EI2, with a fire resistance of 120 minutes on both sides. This means that for 120 minutes it not only stops flames, but also keeps the heat radiation and temperature on the hatch and conveyor surfaces low. So if any suitcases or other elements are near the hatch, they are prevented from igniting. Furthermore, the system passes the endurance test C2 (10,000 cycles), which guarantees its long-term reliability," Siebe points out. "This stringent certification is of great value to architects and construction companies in sectors such as airports, factories and logistics centres. Within our range of fireproof solutions for transport systems, the Firehatch is unique in this".
Especially when it comes to baggage handling systems and logistics centres - where conveyor belts run transverse and uninterrupted through fire compartments - Firehatch Temperature (EI) offers direct added value. Architects can include it in their fire safety plans without compromising on design freedom or functionality.
The development of the Firehatch Temperature (EI) means more to Hoefnagels Fire Safety than ‘just’ launching a new product. It marks another step in its ability to provide customised solutions to specific technical challenges. Siebe sees the future positively: "We now have the knowledge and experience. This opens new doors for possible further development".
With the Firehatch Temperature (EI), Hoefnagels Fire Safety proves that innovative fire safety does not have to be complicated. By listening to customer demand, smart design and certified performance, the family-owned company once again delivers a solution that fits today's building fire safety requirements. For architects and construction companies, it is a reliable choice that combines technology, safety and simplicity.
