Smoke-resisting roller curtains

Hoefnagels tests smoke curtain according to European regulations
Tilburg – Hoefnagels Firedoors has not been idle. Following the development of the Firescreen® fire-resisting roller curtain (2003), the Firelock® Protect fire and intruder-resisting roller door (2007) and the Firelock® BSL60 fire-resisting sliding door (2008), Hoefnagels is now offering the Firelock® smoke curtain D120.

Smoke curtain complies with European standard
In the near future, uniform legislation within Europe in the field of fire safety will be a fact. Hoefnagels has anticipated these developments by introducing a new smoke curtain that complies with European standard EN12101-1. Hoefnagels delivers smoke curtains with a height of 6 metres and a width of any desired dimension with certification according to the new European directives. The smoke-resisting curtain resists temperatures up to 600 ºC for at most 120 minutes.
rookschermen.jpgIt is not unknown that the smoke (fumes) produced in a fire are just as dangerous as the fire. To prevent the distribution of smoke in a building, smoke screens are a good solution. The application of smoke curtains can be seen in places like shopping centres, galleries and buildings with an atrium. Smoke curtains are also used in buildings with a smoke and heat extraction system. Here, the curtain forms an important part of the building's fire security system.

Design freedom
Just like the Firescreen® fire-resisting roller curtains, the space needed to build in the smoke curtains is minimal. Architects and designers thus win in design freedom. The roller curtains can be installed virtually invisibly in the ceiling, thus increasing the possible application range of the curtains. The roller curtains are controlled by the in-house designed Firescreen Control® box. The control box is user friendly and may easily be expanded with various functions.

Hot issue
Fire safety of buildings is and will remain a hot issue. Due to regulations and legislation, fire safety solutions are essential in the design of a building. By employing fire doors, compartmentation of the building is realised and fire and fire damage are limited. With more than 125 years' experience, Hoefnagels is a pioneer in the fire door market. That's why Hoefnagels is the fire door specialist.
